Autumn and winter are beginning.
June in Kamakura is still before summer, and the sea breeze is just starting to feel cool. It was at this time that my HERILL sweatshirt arrived. It gives me the feeling of getting a glimpse of the coming season.
HERILL says that the reason they continue to make these sweatshirts is because they want to recreate the "worn-in feel" of US vintage clothing from the 1950s and 60s. Those who hear that probably already own several sweatshirts and have always felt that something was missing.
The first thing that surprises you when you pick it up is the softness of the material. It's 100% cotton, yet it's rare to find a fabric that feels this comfortable against the skin. This softness creates a unique drape, and despite the wide shoulders and relaxed fit, it somehow manages to look sophisticated and mature.
Sweatshirts often look childish because the fabric is too stiff. This garment does the opposite.
I thought that it could only be obtained over time.
HERILL is working backward from the fabric to find the answer.
The length is shorter, in keeping with vintage styles, resulting in a natural balance. The silhouette is large, but it's not heavy. I think that's the essence of this sweatshirt.

TOPGRAY has a slightly different tone between the sleeves and the body. When you wear it, it unexpectedly takes on a different character. It looks like a single color, but there are subtle shadings in the light. This is why you should choose gray.

BLACK is devoid of anything superfluous, simply elegant. I think this one sentence perfectly encapsulates HERILL's philosophy. There are countless black sweatshirts out there. But not a single sweatshirt that can be definitively called "elegant."

Rather than choosing one over the other, I think it's a garment where both are good to have. TOPGRAY has depth and shading, while BLACK is clean and simple. Everything you look for in a sweatshirt is in these two colors.
