We have just received BEL, a down coat from Auberge that uses silk for the outer fabric, and is truly luxurious.
I used to be involved in the wholesale of downwear for nearly 10 years, and have handled and seen many different types of downwear, but this was the first time I had seen one made with silk fabric, and it was the first item I tried on at Auberge's 24AW exhibition.
This is an exquisite fabric made with a strong weave of silk, which outdoor brands never use due to the high risks involved in the manufacturing process (it's not worth it). It is a deadstock material that was once actually manufactured by a luxury brand at the request of a Japanese fabric manufacturer. This is a masterpiece that uses the outer fabric of silk, which will likely never be produced again, and incorporates the details of a famous British military jacket.

The outer material is 100% silk, the lining is 100% nylon. The inside of the hood is made of 100% cashmere. The filling is 90% down and 10% feather. The fur on the hood is real coyote.

The base of the design is an early model of the British military fall weather jacket from around the 1960s. The red wooden spindle stopper on the drawstring at the neck is a detail that anyone familiar with the original will recognize.
The front has a flap pocket at the bottom, hand warmer pockets on the sides, and cotton ribbing on the sleeves to keep out the wind.
The front can be opened and closed with a zipper and a button fly. The hood provides excellent protection from the cold. The coyote fur is removable.

The size is slightly loose. I am 180cm and 80kg and am wearing size 44. I can wear it comfortably over a sweatshirt or knitwear.
