AUBERGE's MADISON bag has arrived. BLACK × BLACK—both the calf leather of the flap and the glove leather of the body are black. Although they are the same color, the different materials give each bag a unique look.
The base for this design is a COACH glove leather bag from the 1970s and 80s. The MADISON originates from a respect for the rugged and honest bags that COACH had during a time when each bag was handcrafted by artisans, a time completely different from today.
Even with the same color, different materials can create different looks.

Dupui is a long-established French tannery. Known for supplying leather to some of the world's top luxury brands, including Hermès, its tannery quality is considered among the highest in the world.
This MADISON bag's flap is luxuriously crafted from Dupuy's calf leather . Compared to cowhide, calf leather has finer, more uniform fibers, resulting in a smooth texture and elegant sheen. As you use it, the oils from your hands will seep into the leather, creating a deep luster and allowing you to enjoy your own unique aging process.
The combination of Dupuy calf leather on the flap and glove leather on the body creates a "rich contrast of materials." The delicate elegance of the calf leather and the tough, supple ruggedness of the glove leather—two leathers with completely different characteristics coexist within the same black color.

It could almost be considered a different brand from the COACH of today; at that time, COACH was firmly rooted in the context of rugged, heavy-duty American craftsmanship. AUBERGE designer Manabu Kobayashi was drawn to this vintage COACH and created the MADISON bag. The glove leather body embodies respect for the honesty and durability that COACH possessed during that era.
