This season's "DIETER" from AUBERGE may look like a classic hickory stripe at first glance, but it's actually a garment backed by astonishing textile theory.
The design is based on the stoic look of the original coveralls seen in the early days of American workwear before the 1920s. On top of that, the "magic of fabric" that only Auberge can achieve is infused.
1. The calculated unevenness created by the "twist" of the left and right sides.
The fabric used in "DIETER" is a hickory stripe woven in a herringbone pattern. However, the structure of its warp threads is quite unconventional.
Left-hand twill warp threads: Made with "Manapool yarn," an extra-long staple cotton with a strong uneven texture. The yarn tightens with each wash.
Right-hand twill warp threads: Uses "open-end yarn" which has fullness and resilience. Conversely, the yarn loosens and becomes fluffier after washing.
By alternating between "tightening threads" and "expanding threads," the fabric's surface develops an irregular, vintage-like texture with each wash. The garment isn't finished when it's brand new; it's designed in true Auberge style, becoming more and more like a genuine vintage piece with each wash.

3. Transforming the original coverall into a modern, three-dimensional aesthetic.
The design faithfully traces the functional beauty of work jackets from the early 1900s. While cherishing early details such as the uniquely shaped pocket for a pocket watch, the pattern has been updated for modern times.
The flat, two-dimensional cuts of the time have been elevated to a "three-dimensional and beautiful form" that envelops the body. Simply throwing it on over a T-shirt creates an overwhelming presence; it's truly a work jacket for adults.
