What is a brand?
HERILL is a unisex brand launched in Autumn/Winter 2019 by designer Hiroyuki Oshima, who gained experience in planning for designer brands and major select shops after graduating from Bunka Fashion College. As the brand name suggests, a portmanteau of "Heritage" (inherited culture, history, legacy, and tradition) and "Will" (future), HERILL continues to create products that are genuinely interesting, backed by the highest level of technology and experience in traditional factories within Japan, and through the development of new concept materials.
The brand is characterized by its approach of deeply researching U.S. military wear and vintage workwear, and then reconstructing them using the finest Japanese materials and techniques. An overwhelming commitment to materials, such as genuine indigo dyeing, Suvin cotton, ripstop, and nep denim, is the brand's identity.

This denim jacket follows the details of Levi's 506XX (first type). What is genuine indigo dyeing (HONAI)?
This traditional Japanese dyeing technique uses natural indigo derived from the plant "Tadeai" (Persicaria tinctoria), without the use of any chemical dyes. While the dyeing process is time-consuming and labor-intensive, the depth of color and the beautiful way the color fades with repeated wear and washing cannot be replicated with chemical dyes.
