There are countless shirts out there that are called "striped shirts." But when you pick up this shirt, the difference becomes clear. The density of the fabric, the width of the stripes, the shape of the neckline, the way it drapes when worn—everything has a genuine history behind it.
OUTIL's TRICOT HABAS shirts are produced entirely in a long-established factory in the French Basque region, from knitting to cutting and sewing. Following the border pitch of vintage French military striped shirts, these shirts are still handcrafted by artisans in the Basque region.

— What is a Basque shirt? Its origins and history
The origins of the Basque shirt can be traced back to the 19th century in the French Basque region. Its prototype was the work clothes worn by fishermen and sailors in the Basque region, located at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains and facing the Atlantic Ocean. Both the thick horizontal stripes (borders) and the wide neckline known as the boat neck were born out of practical necessity—there are various theories as to why the stripes were for visibility at sea and why the boat neck was designed to make it easier to quickly remove when wet.
Later, the striped shirt became widely known after being adopted as part of the French Navy's uniform. In the 20th century, it became a favorite of Picasso and Cocteau, becoming an iconic symbol of French culture. Jean-Paul Gaultier then promoted it to the world as a fashion statement.
OUTIL's TRICOT HABAS shirt faithfully replicates the border pattern of vintage French military shirts. Made using the same methods at a long-established factory in the Basque region, this shirt possesses a "contextual weight" that sets it apart from ordinary striped shirts.

Compared to OUTIL's standard model "TRICOT AAST," the TRICOT HABAS has a narrower neck opening (neck width). The body width and arms are also moderately compact, giving it a sharper and more refined look compared to the AASI.
The "outil" brand tag on the left shoulder adds a touch of elegance. It's a small detail that isn't overly assertive, but definitely makes its presence known.

"LIMOGES" is the name of a city in central France. It is famous as a center for producing white porcelain, and "Limoges porcelain" is a world-renowned luxury ceramics brand. The deep, elegant navy blue color is the origin of this color name.
The combination of off-white and deep navy blue is the most classic color scheme for French striped shirts. It's easy to pair with any bottoms, and the colors blend and develop a worn-in look the more you wear it. That's the greatest appeal of this color combination.

"ACID LIME" is a new color for this season. The combination of off-white and vibrant lime yellow gives it a completely different look from the traditional navy-based stripes.
The word "acid" refers to a vivid, almost fluorescent or chemical-like color. This lime green shade, when combined with a crisp off-white, instantly brightens up summer and autumn outfits. If LIMOGES represents classic beauty, then ACID LIME represents this season's individuality. The choice between the two depends on the direction of your styling.
