I received my ENGINEERED GARMENTS M65 FIELD JACKET. It's a black jacket with a flight satin nylon outer shell.

The M-65 jacket is a name familiar to anyone with even a slight knowledge of military wear. Adopted by the U.S. military in 1965, it's one of the most iconic garments of the Vietnam War era. It subsequently became widely popular in the fashion world, and countless brands have referenced it to this day. ENGINEERED GARMENTS builds upon this legacy, reimagining this jacket within their own context.

The M-65 field jacket is a field jacket adopted by the U.S. Army in 1965. Developed as an improved version of the earlier M-51 and M-58 jackets, it was widely used throughout the Vietnam War (1965-1975).

Its distinctive features include four large pockets (left, right, front, top, and bottom), a stand collar that can store a hidden hood, adjustable cuffs, and a drawstring at the waist. All of these features were born from real-world combat experience. The material was initially a cotton-polyester blend ripstop, with nylon being adopted later.

Since the 1970s, it has permeated youth culture as a symbol of Vietnam veterans and counterculture. Appearing in all aspects of film, music, art, and fashion, it has become one of the most iconic pieces of military wear.

The standard M-65 jacket uses a cotton-nylon blend. However, EG has adopted "flight satin nylon" for this version.

Satin weave is a weaving method that creates a smooth, glossy surface by leaving the warp or weft threads long and floating. Flight satin, in particular, is characterized by its strong luster and smooth texture, and was once used as a lining for pilots' flight jackets. The choice to use this material for the outer fabric of the M-65 jacket sets it apart from a simple reproduction of the M-65.

The black flight satin nylon changes its appearance depending on how the light hits it. In direct sunlight, it exhibits a distinct sheen, while indoors it takes on a calm, matte finish. Both looks are beautiful, and the ruggedness of military wear and the elegance of satin coexist perfectly.

The insulation uses "PrimaLoft." PrimaLoft is a high-performance insulation material originally developed for the U.S. military. It has the characteristic of being light and warm, similar to down feathers, but with the added benefit of not losing much warmth even when wet.

When you actually try it on, you'll be surprised by how it combines lightness and warmth. It provides more insulation than its appearance suggests, yet it's not heavy. A major advantage is that it can handle a wide range of temperatures from early autumn through winter.
