My AUBERGE ORTEGA bag has arrived. It comes in two colors: NATURAL BLACK and CHAMPAGNE GOLD.
ORTEGA is an item that, like TUCSON, originates from the traditions of Chimayo village. While TUCSON reconstructs the jacket-style Chimayo jacket, ORTEGA reconstructs the Chimayo vest—a sleeveless vest-style Chimayo folk art—with AUBERGE's signature fit. The materials are the same as TUCSON: natural black Andean alpaca and undyed natural champagne gold mohair from South Africa.

The Chimayo Vest is a vest-style folk art item made from traditional hand-woven textiles from the village of Chimayo. Like the Chimayo jacket that served as the basis for TUCSON, it uses a unique textile that blends Pueblo geometric patterns with Spanish and European weaving techniques.
What AUBERGE did with this ORTEGA is the same as what TUCSON did—"not being bound by the patterns of the time, but refreshing them with a modern size balance." By setting the shoulder width wider and designing a slope that naturally conforms to the shoulder line, a well-fitting silhouette is achieved. And by setting the armholes wider, it is possible to layer with various items.

Made from natural black alpaca from the Andes Mountains. The raw, undyed black wool retains its original color. Using the same materials and fabric design as the TUCSON vest, the ORTEGA NATURAL BLACK is designed to be worn on its own or layered as an inner layer under the TUCSON.

This is undyed mohair from South Africa, in a natural champagne gold color. The strong stiffness and resilience of the thick 34/36μ mohair yarn stand out in the form of a vest. Compared to the TUCSON jacket, the smaller surface area allows the presence of the champagne gold color to be more concentrated and assertive.

ORTEGA × Shirt/Turtleneck (Inner Layering)
Layering an ORTEGA vest over a shirt or turtleneck is a classic way to wear a vest. It pairs particularly well with DRESS's plain cotton turtleneck or INTÉRIM's silk noil shirt, where the Chimayo fabric stands out in contrast to the shirt or turtleneck.
ORTEGA × Coat (to be worn as an inner layer under outerwear)
The wide armhole design suggests that this garment is intended to be worn under a coat, such as the NEEDLES HOODED DOWN SUR COAT or an AUBERGE coat. Because it is sleeveless, it does not interfere with the silhouette of the outer garment's cuffs, and allows a glimpse of the ORTEGA Chimayo pattern peeking out from the neckline.
ORTEGA × TUCSON (Chimayo set-up)
Layering an ORTEGA jacket under a TUCSON jacket made of the same material and color creates a Chimayo set-up. When layering a NATURAL BLACK ORTEGA with a TUCSON, the fabric colors and patterns match perfectly, and the Chimayo pattern of the ORTEGA peeking out from the armholes adds an accent. This styling has a much stronger presence than wearing either the TUCSON or ORTEGA alone, representing the final form intended by AUBERGE.
