2026AW OUTIL / VESTE DRAP, BLACK.
OUTIL / VESTE DRAP, BLACK.
Made with Supima moleskin
1940s French work jacket.
My OUTIL VESTE DRAP has arrived. It's a black moleskin coverall.
"VESTE DRAP" means "drape jacket" in French. DRAP refers to thick wool or cotton fabric, and can also refer to heavy fabrics like moleskin. OUTIL's respect for French workwear is reflected in the name itself.
It's different from indigo workwear.
Its refined and sleek appearance is a major attraction.
— About OUTIL's original Supima moleskin
Moleskin is a type of cotton fabric with a brushed surface. It gets its name from its smooth texture and substantial feel, which resembles mole's fur. It's a material that has been used in French workwear for a long time, and it is durable, tough, and has an elegant sheen.
OUTIL has developed this moleskin fabric using Supima cotton (the finest American cotton, characterized by its long fibers, suppleness, and luster). While retaining the heavy, robust feel and toughness unique to moleskin, it adds the suppleness and elegant sheen of Supima cotton, making it an original OUTIL material.
The deep black color and elegant sheen of this fabric give the VESTE DRAP a versatility that allows it to look casual without appearing childish, and to naturally blend into more formal styles as well.
— Reimagining a 1940s French work jacket
The VESTE DRAP is based on a 1940s French work jacket. OUTIL's designer, Yuya Uta, draws much inspiration from traditional French workwear, studying the "beauty of utility" it embodies, and meticulously crafts his garments from material development to sewing.
VESTE DRAP's starting point is reconstructing the rationality and beauty inherent in the jackets worn by French workers on the job in the 1940s, using modern technology and the finest materials.

— About dressing
VESTE DRAP × Turtleneck × Slacks (Chic jacket style)
The black moleskin VESTE DRAP instantly creates a sophisticated jacket style when paired with a turtleneck. Wearing it with a HERILL Golden Cash or DRESS plain cotton turtleneck as an inner layer, and combining it with NEAT wool slacks or AUBERGE BEZIERS, creates a look that retains its workwear roots while maintaining a modern, urban feel.
VESTE DRAP × T-shirt × Denim (worn casually as an outer layer)
This casual piece can be worn over a white T-shirt or a DRESS Nietzsche sweatshirt. The deep black of the Supima moleskin adds a sophisticated touch that prevents any casual outfit from looking childish. Paired with HERILL denim pants or INTÉRIM's BOURGERON, it creates a vibe reminiscent of a French worker's day off.
Summarize in the context of OUTIL
The OUTIL PANTALON, paired with JASSY D.INDIGO and MAILLE GENERAC, is underpinned by a shared respect for French workwear. The combination of a black moleskin jacket and indigo denim pants can be worn today in the same context as what French craftsmen might have worn on the job.
