The pleats on the front are distinctive. This blouson was modeled after a French jacket from the late 19th century, and is one of the earliest denim jackets, with some resemblance to the later Levi's 506XX.

This original fabric is made from extra-long staple Manapur yarn, which has a natural uneven texture, and dyed with indigo and sulfur dyes using cheese dyeing. The weft is made from undyed linen.
This fabric reproduces the random linen herringbone used by the French Army during World War I. The difference in shrinkage between the warp and weft threads and the weave tension change greatly, resulting in a texture that takes on a rugged, three-dimensional appearance when washed. It is a fabric that you can enjoy as it ages.
